David’s impressive career spans multiple sectors, reflecting his deep expertise in superannuation, financial auditing, and leadership in the fishing industry. His background as a Chartered Accountant and Fellow of the SMSF Association of Australia highlights his professional credentials, while his work as a Specialist Superannuation Advisor and ASIC-approved SMSF Auditor highlights his specialised knowledge and capacity to handle complex superannuation matters.
As a Queen’s Scout, David has demonstrated a lifelong commitment to leadership, service, and personal development. His role as Chair of the Professional Standards Committee for the SMSF Association underscores his influence and dedication to improving the standards within his industry. He was also a member of the Sydney Fish Market Leadership Committee from 2017 to 2019, during which time the committee successfully secured $750 million in funding from the NSW State Government for the construction of the New Sydney Fish Market, shows his broader business acumen and interest in community-driven initiatives.
David’s appointment as an Officer of the Supreme Court of New South Wales and his involvement in high-profile SMSF audits, including the complex Jennifer Helen Papadam v Smidam Pty Limited case, exemplify his authoritative expertise in managing contentious and high-stakes superannuation audits.
His accolades, such as winning NSW SMSF Auditor of the Year in 2018 and being a finalist for Auditor of the Year in 2019, 2020, and 2024, further validate his standing in the industry.
Outside of his professional achievements, David is a proud father of three boys. Alongside growing his SMSF practice, David fulfilled a boyhood dream by purchasing his late father’s trawler, “Little River” and launching Yamba Wild in 2017. The venture reflects his dedication to sustainable fishing practices and preserving family heritage.
