Saul SMSF Group is committed to safeguarding the privacy and confidentiality of your personal and sensitive information. We recognise the importance of protecting the privacy of the information you provide to us during our engagement. We adhere to the Privacy Act 1988 and comply with all amendments to the Act, including the changes that came into effect on 12 March 2014.

This information is used to provide superannuation audit, forensic, and/or help desk services.

  • Unsolicited Information: If we receive unsolicited personal information from you that is unrelated to our engagement, we will take appropriate steps to destroy or de-identify the information in accordance with the requirements of the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

  • When you engage our services, including but not limited to independent SMSF audit, forensic and helpdesk services;
  • When you register for secure access to our website and/or log into your accounts on our website, including SMSF IQ;
  • When you register for and participate in our educational events, including live events such as online webinars;
  • When you subscribe to the SMSF IQ membership;
  • When you contact us or our affiliated entities, whether by mail, email, telephone, or other communication channels; and
  • From third-party sources, including law enforcement agencies and other government or regulatory bodies.

4. How We Use Personal Information

  • The Saul SMSF Group collects your personal information in order to provide you with independent SMSF audit, forensic, SMSF IQ, and help desk services. The collection of such information is necessary to comply with applicable superannuation and tax laws.
  • We also use your information to send you the specific information or materials you request, either via email or post.
  • Periodically, we may send newsletters and other relevant information on various subjects. These communications will be delivered either by mail or electronically, depending on the nature of the content. We maintain a database of our clients and business contacts for the purpose of distributing this information. If you no longer wish to receive such communications, you may opt out by unsubscribing.

6. Disclosure Of Personal Information By The Saul SMSF Group

Saul SMSF Group will not disclose your personal information to third parties except as outlined below. We will not sell, rent, trade, or share your personal information without your explicit consent.

  • Disclosure to Government Agencies – Personal information may be disclosed to government entities such as the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) or the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) when necessary to provide independent SMSF audit services.
  • Professional Bodies for Quality Reviews – Personal information may be shared with relevant professional bodies for quality assurance reviews as required by industry standards.
  • Data Storage – Your personal information may be stored on cloud platforms or with third-party onsite services. These third parties are obligated to comply with the Privacy Act.
  • Sharing with Third-Party Organisations – At its discretion, Saul SMSF Group may share relevant personal information with qualified, reputable third-party organisations to facilitate independent SMSF audit services. We will ensure that these organisations comply with the Privacy Act.
  • Legal Disclosures – Saul SMSF Group will disclose personal information to government bodies when legally required to do so.
  • Overseas Transfers – In cases where personal information is transferred overseas to fulfill the purpose for which it was collected, Saul SMSF Group will take reasonable steps to ensure the recipient complies with the Australian Privacy Principles or equivalent international privacy laws.
  • No Overseas Outsourcing – Saul SMSF Group will not transfer personal or client information overseas if you specifically request that no outsourcing or resourcing occur, either by the SMSF Trustee clients or the representing firm.

7. Incomplete Information and Reporting Suspected Contraventions

In the course of conducting an independent SMSF audit, we may be obligated to report any suspected contraventions of the Superannuation Industry (Supervision) Act 1993 (SIS Act) and its associated Regulations to the Australian Taxation Office (ATO). This may include submitting an Audit Contravention Report, even if the information received is incomplete.

8. Information Security

The Saul SMSF Group has implemented security measures to protect against the loss, misuse, or alteration of personal information under its control.

The Saul SMSF work closely with Strategic Group (https://strategicgroup.net.au/) to meet our Security & Support requirements. As part of our engagement with Strategic Group the following are implemented & managed to protect our staff, data, & systems from cyber threats, including:

From a technical perspective, Strategic Group have implemented Microsoft 365 E5 (https://www.microsoft.com/en-au/microsoft-365/enterprise/e5) to extend identity and threat protection with integrated and automated security to help stop damaging attacks.

All employees and consultants of Saul SMSF Group are required to sign an agreement that mandates the confidentiality of your personal information. They are prohibited from disclosing such information to any third party, except as necessary to perform the services contracted or agreed upon, and only with your explicit consent.

9. Complaints Resolution

The Saul SMSF Group is dedicated to providing a fair and responsible process for addressing complaints from individuals whose personal information we manage. If you have concerns about how we have handled your privacy, please contact us by:
